ClinConnect Summary
The AMIRE trial is studying how a special exercise program after surgery can help improve the strength and function of the abdominal wall in patients who have undergone surgery for abdominal rectus diastasis, a condition where the muscles in the abdomen are separated. Researchers want to find out if following a structured exercise plan in the months after surgery makes a difference in recovery and if the tissues in patients with this condition are different compared to healthy individuals.
To participate in this trial, individuals need to have a separation of their abdominal muscles greater than 3 cm and must have given birth at least a year ago. They should also have maintained a stable weight for a year after any weight loss and have a body mass index (BMI) under 30. The trial is open to both men and women. Participants can expect to engage in a rehabilitation program and will be monitored for their progress at three and twelve months after surgery. It's important to note that individuals who are planning another pregnancy, smoke, have certain medical conditions, or have specific types of hernias may not be eligible for this study.
