ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well patients manage pain after surgery for various types of bone fractures, comparing the use of traditional opioid pain medications to a method that does not use opioids at all. The goal is to see if patients can have effective pain relief without the risks associated with opioids, such as addiction or side effects.
To participate in this trial, you must be at least 18 years old and have had surgery for specific types of fractures at the University of Kansas Hospital. However, if you have a history of chronic opioid use, are pregnant or nursing, or have certain medical conditions, you may not be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to receive either standard opioid pain relief or an opioid-free approach, and your pain levels will be monitored closely to see which method works better. This research aims to improve pain management for patients recovering from surgery while minimizing the use of opioids.
