ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Persistent Neonatal Jaundice on Neonates and Children," aims to study a condition called persistent neonatal jaundice (PNNJ), which is a yellowing of the skin and eyes that lasts longer than normal in newborns and young children. Researchers at Assiut University Children’s Hospital will look at different causes of this condition in babies and children who are admitted to their neonatology, hepatology, and hematology units. They will gather data about the patients' ages, health status, and the reasons for their jaundice, as well as track how well they respond to treatment.
To participate in this study, children must be between the ages of newborn to 14 years and have had jaundice for more than two weeks (or three weeks for preterm infants). Unfortunately, babies with jaundice that lasts less than these timeframes won’t be included. If eligible, participants can expect to be part of a comprehensive assessment that will help doctors better understand this condition and improve future treatments. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but it will take place throughout 2024.
