ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a method called the ultrasound-guided adductor canal block (ACB) to help manage pain after total knee replacement surgery. This technique focuses on blocking a specific nerve to provide pain relief without causing weakness in the thigh muscle. The researchers want to find out how different amounts of the local anesthetic used in this procedure can affect pain control after surgery.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and scheduled for knee replacement surgery with spinal anesthesia. They should also be in generally good health, classified as ASA I, II, or III by the American Society of Anesthesiologists. However, those with certain conditions like bleeding disorders, allergies to local anesthetics or opioids, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding cannot participate. Participants can expect to receive the ACB procedure during their surgery, which may help reduce their pain after the operation and improve their recovery experience.
