ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new way to help doctors and nurses perform intubations—putting a tube in the airway to help children breathe—more safely in pediatric intensive care units (PICUs). Researchers are testing a special digital checklist that will guide the medical team through the process, aiming to reduce complications associated with intubation. The study is taking place in six different hospitals, and they are currently seeking participants with any age range, as long as they are being intubated in the PICU.
To be eligible for this study, patients must be those who are intubated in the participating PICUs. However, if a patient is having a procedure to exchange an endotracheal tube (the tube used for intubation), they will not be included in the trial. For families considering participation, the process will focus on improving safety during this critical procedure, and caregivers can expect to be informed about how the checklist is used and how it may benefit their child’s care.
