ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how a medication called dexamethasone, when given near the nerves during a specific type of anesthesia (called a supraclavicular brachial plexus block), can help children feel less pain for a longer time after hand or wrist surgery. The goal is to see if this approach can improve the comfort and recovery of young patients undergoing these procedures.
To be part of the study, children must be scheduled for hand or wrist surgery and weigh more than 5 kilograms (about 11 pounds). However, kids with infections at the injection site, certain blood disorders, weakened immune systems, or those regularly taking steroid medications are not eligible. If your child qualifies and joins the trial, they can expect to receive the usual anesthesia along with the dexamethasone, and doctors will monitor their pain levels and recovery closely. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to enhance pain management in pediatric surgery.
