ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding the outcomes and potential causes of death for patients who require prolonged mechanical ventilation (PMV), which is a type of life support that helps patients breathe when they are unable to do so on their own. The study aims to gather detailed information about why patients are admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and what happens to them after they receive PMV. This research is important because it can help improve care for these patients and provide valuable information for future studies.
To be part of this trial, participants must be critically ill patients who are receiving PMV at Dessie Comprehensive Specialized Hospital during the study period. Unfortunately, patients whose medical records are incomplete or missing important information will not be included. While the trial is not yet recruiting participants, those who do join can expect to contribute to a better understanding of the challenges faced by patients on prolonged mechanical ventilation. This could lead to improved care for patients and relief for their families, as well as help the healthcare system manage these complex cases more effectively.
