ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a procedure called frenuloplasty, which is used to treat children with a condition known as ankyloglossia, or tongue tie. This condition can affect how a child uses their tongue, which in turn can impact their speech and overall mouth function. The goal of the trial is to see if this procedure can help improve speech clarity and proper tongue posture, which are important for healthy oral development.
To be eligible for this trial, children must be between the ages of 5 and 12 and specifically have a type of tongue tie that is located further back in the mouth. They also need to be currently receiving support from a speech therapist who has evaluated their speech and mouth function. The trial is not open to children who are having other surgeries at the same time or who have certain medical conditions. Participants will undergo the frenuloplasty procedure and will likely be monitored afterward to see how it helps with their speech and tongue movement. This study aims to provide valuable insights into how this procedure can benefit children facing these challenges.
