ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of a special type of breathing exercise called inspiratory muscle strength training (IMST) on patients who have post-COVID-19 syndrome. Many people recovering from COVID-19 experience serious health issues, including problems with their heart and blood vessels. The researchers want to see if doing IMST at home for just a few minutes a day, several times a week, can help improve these patients' cardiovascular health and overall physical abilities.
To be eligible for the trial, participants must have had COVID-19 and be experiencing ongoing symptoms related to it, such as low oxygen levels during their illness and a need for extra oxygen. They should also have been hospitalized for their COVID-19 treatment. However, individuals who are pregnant or have other serious health conditions, like chronic lung issues or certain heart diseases, cannot participate. Those who join the study can expect to take part in a randomized trial, meaning some will do the actual IMST while others will do a similar but inactive version, allowing researchers to compare results. This study is important because it could lead to new ways to help people recover better after COVID-19.
