ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at how fixed orthodontic appliances, like braces, might affect the way patients taste food. The researchers want to understand if having braces changes how people perceive different tastes. To do this, they will use taste strips that help measure taste perception in patients who are currently undergoing traditional orthodontic treatment.

To be part of this study, participants need to be at least 15 years old and currently receiving fixed orthodontic treatment. However, some individuals will not be eligible, including those with certain health issues like diabetes or liver problems, those with middle ear infections, smokers, and individuals with depression or dry mouth. The study is still in the planning stages and has not started recruiting participants yet, but it aims to provide important insights into how braces might influence our sense of taste.
