ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, called "DIC Markers and Thrombin Generation Parameters in Patients on ECMO Support: a Pilot Study," is looking at how certain blood markers and clotting factors relate to complications in patients receiving ECMO support. ECMO, or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, is a treatment used for patients whose hearts or lungs are not functioning properly. The study aims to understand if these new markers can help predict problems like blood clots or bleeding in patients undergoing this intensive treatment.

To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 18 years old and admitted to specific hospitals in Hong Kong, requiring ECMO support. However, patients on certain types of ECMO or those with specific medical conditions may not be eligible. If you join the study, you will undergo routine monitoring and blood tests to help researchers gather important information about your health and how your body is responding to the ECMO treatment. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and your involvement could contribute valuable insights into improving care for future patients on ECMO.
