ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a digital educational program about food labeling can help children and their caregivers make healthier food choices. The trial focuses on elementary school students in Mexico City, particularly those in 3rd to 5th grades, and their caregivers. The main goal is to see if providing information on reading front-of-package labels can improve the selection and purchase of food, compared to a group that receives general nutrition education. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the education group or the control group.
To join the study, children must be enrolled in the selected schools and have a normal weight, be overweight, or have obesity. Their caregivers can also be of any weight category, but both must have access to the internet and a device to participate in the online program. Participants will engage with various materials online, including quizzes and surveys about their eating habits, and will also have their height, weight, and other measurements taken. This trial aims to understand if better education about food labeling can lead to healthier choices for children and their families.
