ClinConnect Summary
The ELOFSAM trial is studying how locally made foods can help prevent acute malnutrition in young children aged 6 to 23 months in Tigray, Northern Ethiopia. Many children in this age group struggle with malnutrition because they do not get enough variety and nutrients in their diets. This study will look at two specific types of foods: locally produced cereal-based foods and small nutrient supplements. The goal is to see if these foods are acceptable to families and if they can effectively reduce malnutrition in children living in areas affected by conflict.
To participate in this trial, children must be between 6 and 23 months old. However, those with severe acute malnutrition will not be eligible. Families who join the study can expect to receive guidance on these new food options and how they might improve their children's health. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to find practical solutions to help nourish young children in vulnerable communities.
