ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how the liver tissue of children who have received a liver transplant changes over time. Specifically, it looks at liver biopsies (small samples of liver tissue) taken from patients at 2, 5, 10, and 15 years after their transplant. Researchers want to understand if there are any signs of inflammation or scarring in the liver, even when routine tests show that liver function is normal and the levels of medication to prevent rejection are appropriate. This information will help doctors better manage the treatment these young patients receive to ensure their transplanted livers remain healthy.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be between 2 and 18 years old and must have had a liver transplant at least two years ago. They also need to be receiving follow-up care at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital in their pediatric liver clinic. If enrolled, participants can expect to undergo several tests, including blood tests, ultrasounds, and biopsies, as part of their regular follow-up. This study aims to improve the care provided to children who have undergone liver transplants by closely monitoring their long-term health.
