ClinConnect Summary

The Erythrocyte Transport of Lactate During Exercise (TELE Project) is a clinical trial aimed at understanding how lactate, a substance produced during exercise, moves between the blood and red blood cells. Researchers want to see how factors like blood acidity, certain genetic traits, and the amount of a specific protein (MCT1) in red blood cells affect this process during and after exercise. The study has two phases: in the first phase, physically fit participants will undergo different exercise tests, while in the second phase, researchers will compare the MCT1 levels in the red blood cells of both trained and inactive participants.

To participate, individuals aged 18-35 with a healthy body weight (BMI between 18 and 25), who are either well-trained (exercising at least 5 hours a week) or sedentary (exercising very little), may be eligible. Those interested should be non-smokers and in good health, with no conditions that might interfere with the exercise tests. Participants can expect to engage in exercise tests and contribute to important research that could enhance our understanding of energy metabolism during physical activity.
