ClinConnect Summary
The WHNRC Honey Study is a research trial that aims to compare the effects of two different snacks on blood sugar levels after eating. One snack contains honey and nuts, while the other has sugar and nuts. The researchers believe that the honey and nuts combination may help lower blood sugar after meals better than the sugar and nuts combination, while also helping participants feel full and reducing stress on the body.
To participate in this study, women must be pre-menopausal and willing to eat the snacks provided, which include honey, sugar, and tree nuts. Those with a body mass index that is too low or too high, allergies to tree nuts, certain medical conditions, or who are taking specific medications that influence blood sugar levels are not eligible. Participants can expect to eat the snacks and have their blood sugar levels monitored before and after snacking. This study is currently recruiting participants aged between 65 and 74, and it welcomes all genders.
