ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well non-surgical treatments work for patients with acute diverticulitis who also have an abscess, which is a pocket of infection. The goal is to understand the chances of these treatments failing and to identify factors that may indicate a higher risk of this happening. The researchers are looking at data from twelve hospitals in Italy to gather information about patients who were treated with antibiotics or antibiotics combined with a procedure to drain the abscess, rather than undergoing immediate surgery.
To participate in this study, patients need to be at least 18 years old and diagnosed with acute diverticulitis showing signs of a contained perforation, meaning that the infection has not spread widely in the abdomen. Those who are very sick or have other serious conditions will not be included. Participants can expect to provide information about their treatment experience, which will help doctors understand the effectiveness of current treatment strategies and improve care for future patients.
