ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking into the prevalence of low sodium levels in patients who have been newly diagnosed with dengue fever, a viral infection spread by mosquitoes. Researchers want to understand how low sodium levels, known as hyponatremia, are related to inflammation in the body caused by the dengue virus. The study is taking place at Hospital Posadas in Argentina and is currently recruiting participants from January 1, 2016, to November 1, 2023. To qualify for the study, participants must have a confirmed dengue diagnosis through specific tests, such as blood tests.
Anyone diagnosed with dengue during this time may be eligible to participate. There are no specific exclusions, which means that almost anyone who meets the diagnosis criteria can join. Participants will have their sodium levels checked when they are admitted to the hospital, and their health will be monitored throughout the study. This research aims to provide better understanding of how dengue affects sodium levels in the body, which could help improve treatment for patients in the future.
