ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how helpful a program called Intelligent Physical Exercise Training (IPET) is for reducing pain in the muscles and joints of surgeons who perform abdominal and pelvic surgeries. The main question the study seeks to answer is whether IPET is better than just following ergonomic (body-friendly) practices to prevent or treat musculoskeletal pain. Over the course of 20 weeks, participants will learn about ergonomic principles and practice them while they operate. Those in the intervention group will also do 50 minutes of tailored physical exercise each week, guided by an app, to see if this extra training makes a difference.
To join the study, participants need to be surgeons who specialize in gynecologic, urologic, colorectal, or abdominal surgery and perform about four hours of surgery weekly. Unfortunately, if someone's doctor has advised them not to do physical exercise, they won't be eligible for this trial. Overall, this study aims to find effective ways to help surgeons stay comfortable and healthy while they work.
