ClinConnect Summary
The SWELE Program is a study designed to improve the mental health of students with special education needs (SEN) through a fun and engaging approach. This program combines outdoor play and mindfulness activities to help children and teenagers who may struggle with conditions like learning disorders, autism, and ADHD. Over 16 weeks, participating students will enjoy unstructured outdoor play twice a week, along with mindfulness exercises like meditation, yoga, and creative games. The goal is to help these students feel less anxious, manage their emotions better, and improve their social skills.
To be part of this study, students must be enrolled in a special school, understand Cantonese, and have parental consent. They should not have any heart-related health issues. Participants can look forward to a supportive environment where they can play freely and learn mindfulness techniques alongside their peers. Additionally, there will be training workshops for teachers and parents to help them support the students during this program. Overall, the SWELE Program aims to create a positive impact on the mental well-being of children with special educational needs.
