ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how increased pressure in the abdomen during laparoscopic surgery, a type of minimally invasive surgery, might cause damage to the kidneys. Researchers want to find out if a special monitoring technique called Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) can help detect this kidney damage during surgery. They will be measuring certain blood markers before and after the surgery to see how the kidneys are affected.
To participate in this trial, patients need to be undergoing an elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy, which is the removal of the gallbladder, and the surgery must last more than an hour. Eligible participants will be adults aged 18 to 75 with a healthy body mass index and specific conditions related to their kidney health. Those who have had prior kidney surgery, have certain infections, or are in emergency situations will not be included. If you join the study, you can expect to have your kidney function monitored closely during the surgery and some blood tests done before and after the procedure to help the researchers gather important information.
