ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at the effects of a treatment called inspiratory muscle training (IMT) for people with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). OSA is a condition where breathing is interrupted during sleep, which can lead to excessive tiredness and affect daily life. The study aims to see if strengthening the muscles used for breathing can help reduce daytime sleepiness in patients who already use a treatment called CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure), which helps keep the airways open during sleep.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be over 18 years old and diagnosed with OSA, which is measured by an Apnea Hypopnea Index score of 5 or more. However, individuals with certain conditions, such as those related to the nervous system or cognitive disorders, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, cannot participate. If you join the study, you will likely undergo a training program to strengthen your breathing muscles and be monitored for any improvements in your sleepiness and overall quality of life. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and your involvement could help determine if IMT is a beneficial addition to existing treatments for OSA.
