ClinConnect Summary
The CRIMSON clinical trial is studying how a special system called the Responses to Illness Severity Quantification (RISQ) can help improve care for young children with severe acute malnutrition in Ngouri, Chad. The goal is to see if using this system can lower the number of children who sadly do not survive and to make the treatment process more effective for children between 6 months and 5 years old. The trial is currently recruiting participants, and both children and healthcare staff can be involved.
To be eligible for the study, children must be between 6 to 59 months old and must have permission from a parent or guardian to participate. However, children with allergies to milk, peanuts, or certain therapeutic foods cannot join the study. Participants in this trial can expect to receive care through the OptiMA program, which focuses on treating malnutrition. This study will help researchers understand how to improve treatment for these vulnerable children and ultimately save lives.
