ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the outcomes of children who have been hospitalized in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for serious health issues such as kidney or liver diseases, heart problems, trauma, infections, and pneumonia. The goal is to understand how many of these children recover fully after their stay in the PICU and to identify any challenges they might face, like behavioral or emotional issues, which can be part of a condition known as Pediatric Post-Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS-p). Researchers want to learn more about the factors that can lead to these challenges and how they affect the well-being of both children and their families.
To participate in this study, children must be 18 years old or younger and have spent at least four days in the PICU. Certain children, such as those born prematurely or those with specific heart conditions, will not be included. Although the trial is not yet recruiting participants, families who take part can expect to contribute to important research that may help improve care for future patients. Understanding PICS-p is crucial, as it can help ensure that children receive the support they need after their hospital stay.
