ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to measure the success of a specific type of pain relief technique called a lumbar plexus block, which is often used for patients undergoing hip surgeries. Instead of relying on traditional methods that require patient feedback (like feeling a pin prick or testing temperature), this trial will use a device called Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS). This technology measures how much oxygen is in the tissues, helping doctors understand whether the nerve block is working effectively without needing to ask patients for their input.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be between the ages of 18 and 90 and have certain conditions, such as a femoral neck fracture, femoral shaft fracture, or are scheduled for hip replacement surgery. However, people with a high body mass index, infections in the area where the block will be given, or specific medical conditions will not be eligible. Participants can expect to have their oxygen levels monitored during their treatment, which may help improve pain relief strategies in the future. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to enhance how nerve blocks are evaluated in the future.
