ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effectiveness of two different types of support bars for patients who will receive dental implants in their upper jaw. The goal is to see which type of bar—one made from titanium or another made from a plastic-like material called PEEK—causes less bone loss over time after the implants are placed. The trial will involve 14 participants who have lost all their upper teeth and will be randomly assigned to one of the two groups. Both groups will receive a custom-made temporary dental prosthesis (a false set of teeth) that is attached to the implants right after they are placed.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be generally healthy, have a normal bite, and enough healthy gum tissue to support the implants. Those with poor oral hygiene or certain habits that could affect their oral health won’t be included. Participants can expect to visit the clinic for assessments at four and six months after receiving their prosthesis, where the researchers will check how well the implants and the surrounding bone are doing using a special imaging technique. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to help improve dental implant procedures in the future.
