ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of eating peanuts on brain performance, weight control, and inflammation in healthy young adolescents in Barcelona, Spain. The researchers want to find out if having 25 grams of roasted peanuts as a daily snack for six months can benefit cognitive skills, help manage weight, and reduce inflammation. The trial will include 200 boys and girls aged 10 to 12 years from participating schools, and they will be randomly divided into two groups: one group will eat peanuts, while the other will not. Both groups will receive guidance on healthy eating, exercise, sleep, and emotional well-being.
To participate, children need to be between 10 and 12 years old and attend regular primary schools in Barcelona. They cannot have any allergies to peanuts or other health issues that might interfere with eating peanuts. Participation is entirely voluntary, and consent from parents or guardians will be obtained. Before starting the trial, all participants will follow a peanut-free diet for two weeks to ensure they are ready for the study. This trial aims to promote healthy habits among adolescents while exploring the potential benefits of peanuts in their diets.
