ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding how to help soldiers perform better in extreme conditions, such as very high altitudes where there is less oxygen (hypoxia) or very cold temperatures (hypothermia). The researchers are studying how red blood cells (which carry oxygen in the body) can adapt to these tough environments. They believe that by improving how red blood cells function, they can help soldiers maintain their physical and mental abilities even when faced with challenging conditions.
If you're interested in participating, you need to be at least 18 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be generally healthy. However, if you have a chronic infection, are pregnant, don’t speak English, or are 89 years old or older, you won't be eligible. Participants in this trial will undergo tests related to how their bodies respond to low oxygen and cold temperatures, helping researchers develop better strategies to support those in extreme environments. This research could lead to better training and safety measures for military personnel.
