ClinConnect Summary
The PANCUT clinical trial is studying the best way to perform pancreatic surgery to reduce the risk of a complication called pancreatic fistula, which can occur after surgery. The researchers want to compare two methods of cutting the pancreas during surgery: one using a specialized tool called the Cavitron Ultrasonic Surgical Aspirator (CUSA) and another using traditional methods like a surgical scalpel or stapler. The trial will involve 160 patients who are scheduled for a specific type of surgery called pancreaticoduodenectomy.
To join the study, participants must be at least 18 years old and able to understand the information about the trial. They should also be having the surgery planned for a valid medical reason, and they will need to give their consent to participate. Throughout the trial, patients can expect close monitoring and care as they undergo surgery and recovery. This study is currently recruiting participants and aims to provide valuable insights into improving surgical outcomes for patients undergoing pancreatic surgery.
