ClinConnect Summary
The Missing Pieces Trial is a research study designed to help parents and caregivers who have experienced the tragic and unexpected loss of a child under 25 years old. Often, these parents first encounter a medical examiner or coroner when dealing with their loss, but these professionals typically don’t have training to support grieving families. This trial aims to test two different ways to improve support for these parents during such a difficult time.
To be eligible for the trial, you must be a parent or caregiver of a child who has died in a way that involves a medical examiner, and you need to be able to read and communicate in English or Spanish. Participants can expect to receive support and resources tailored to their needs as they navigate their grief. This study is currently recruiting participants from specific counties in Illinois, and it’s an important step toward creating better assistance for families facing this unimaginable loss.
