ClinConnect Summary
This study is testing two different splint designs to help treat trigger finger without surgery. People with trigger finger will be randomly assigned to wear either a metacarpophalangeal joint blocking splint or a relative motion extension splint, and they’ll be followed for about 12 weeks. The main measure is a clinician’s grading of how much the finger catches or locks when making a fist. They’ll also track pain on a 0–10 scale and overall hand function.
Who can join? The study is open to people with trigger finger of any sex or age (including children and adults). Exclusions include having diabetes or not speaking English. The trial is taking place at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, New Zealand, and is currently enrolling by invitation. There are no results yet, and the study aims to finish around 2028.
