ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a program called a physical literacy-based intervention (PLBI) designed to help older adults in Hong Kong improve their health and well-being. The goal is to encourage active living and boost self-esteem among seniors by teaching them about physical activity, motivation, and confidence. The study will involve ten daycare centers for older adults, where participants will take part in fitness training sessions twice a week for 12 weeks, along with peer support and reflective journaling about their experiences.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be between 65 and 74 years old, able to walk without assistance, and capable of reading and writing. However, those with certain medical conditions that affect mobility or cognitive function will not be included. Throughout the trial, participants will be assessed at the start and again after the 12-week program, as well as six weeks later, to see how their physical abilities and attitudes towards exercise have changed. Ultimately, this study aims to create a supportive community among older adults, encouraging them to lead healthier, more active lives.
