ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called Dental-Child Interaction Training, is focused on improving the way dental providers, like dentists and dental hygienists, interact with young children and their parents during dental visits. The goal is to teach these providers effective communication skills that will help make dental experiences less stressful for children aged 2 to 10 years old. The training is based on a proven approach called Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Researchers will look at how the training changes the behavior of dental providers and whether they find the training helpful.
The trial is looking for dental providers who treat children and are at least 18 years old, as well as parents or caregivers who can speak and understand English. Children who are between 2 and 10 years old and are visiting the dentist are also eligible, as long as they are accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Participants will all receive the same training, but some will start later than others so that researchers can compare the results. Everyone involved will be videotaped during the process, and all participants will need to agree to the study and follow the required procedures.
