ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how to improve electrical stimulation treatments for people with refractory epilepsy, which means their seizures do not respond well to traditional medications. Researchers are looking to find the best settings for this stimulation so that it can effectively reduce seizure activity in the brain. They will compare what they’ve learned from animal studies to what doctors currently use in practice, hoping to find a more effective approach.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be undergoing a specific brain test called intracranial EEG at Massachusetts General Hospital as part of their evaluation for epilepsy surgery. This study is open to all genders and is currently recruiting participants. It's important to note that those who have very low spike activity in their brain waves (less than 0.5 spikes per minute) will not be eligible. Participants can expect to contribute to important research that could improve treatment options for epilepsy, while also receiving close monitoring and support throughout the trial.
