ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how blood flow in small vessels, known as microcirculation, works in both healthy individuals and patients who are on mechanical ventilation in critical care settings, like the operating room or intensive care unit (ICU). The researchers want to see how well a specific type of measuring tool, called photoplethysmography (PPG), can assess microcirculation compared to traditional methods. They will study how PPG measurements compare with other tests that evaluate blood flow and circulation in these different groups.
Healthy adults over 18 years old can participate in this study, as long as they are not pregnant, smokers, or have certain medical conditions related to the heart or blood vessels. Patients in the ICU who are being ventilated can also join, provided they meet specific criteria and do not have certain injuries or diseases affecting their arms. Participants can expect to undergo simple tests to measure their microcirculation, and their results may help improve understanding and treatment of critically ill patients in the future.
