ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome (OHS) affects exercise ability, muscle strength, and overall quality of life in people who are obese. OHS is a condition where people have trouble breathing properly during sleep and may feel tired or have high levels of carbon dioxide in their blood during the day. The researchers want to understand if having OHS makes the challenges of exercise and daily living even harder for those who are already dealing with obesity.
To participate in this study, individuals must be between 65 to 74 years old, have a body mass index (BMI) between 30 and 45, and have been diagnosed with OHS. They should also be at low risk for obstructive sleep apnea. Those who have serious health issues that affect their breathing or have conditions that could prevent them from exercising safely will not be included. Participants can expect to engage in exercises and assessments that will help researchers gather important information about how OHS impacts their physical capabilities and their quality of life. This trial is not yet recruiting, but it aims to shed light on how obesity and OHS combine to affect health, which could lead to better care for those affected.
