ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how well two different treatment options help patients recover from a condition called acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in the lower leg. Specifically, the study will compare the effectiveness of newer blood thinners (called NOACs) against traditional treatments over one year. Researchers want to see how many patients experience "recanalization," which means the blocked vein becomes open again, allowing normal blood flow.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be between 18 and 80 years old and be experiencing their first episode of acute DVT in the femoral or popliteal veins (these are veins in the thigh and behind the knee). Unfortunately, those with a history of DVT, certain severe health issues, or who are pregnant or nursing cannot participate. If you join the trial, you will receive one of the two treatments and be followed for a year to see how well it works for you. This trial is not yet recruiting, so it’s still in the planning stages.
