ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how two different short media interventions—a 15-minute TV show and a 3-minute music video—can help improve young children's feelings about their bodies and reduce negative attitudes towards larger bodies. Researchers want to see if these programs can make children appreciate their own and others' bodies better. They are also interested in whether both the children and their parents find these interventions enjoyable and acceptable.
To participate, children need to be between 4 and 6 years old and in reception or Year 1 of primary school. Their parents or guardians must live in Greater London or the Midlands. If eligible, children will be randomly assigned to watch one of the media interventions or a control version that doesn't focus on body image. During the study, children will take part in interviews with researchers before and after watching the media, while parents will fill out surveys about their experiences. Participants will return a week later for follow-up interviews to see if the media had a lasting impact.
