ClinConnect Summary
This study is checking whether using corrective kinesiology tape on the heel can reduce heel pain and improve how the foot works in adolescents with pronated (flat-ish) feet and plantar fasciitis. About 30 young people ages 12–18 with heel pain for 6 weeks to 6 months and a pronated foot will be eligible. Exclusion criteria include recent heel injections, other types of heel pain, diabetes or certain medical conditions, recent foot surgery, BMI over 25, or regular high-level athletic activity. The trial is taking place in Egypt (Beni-Suef University with Al-Azhar University) and is sponsored by Beni-Suef University.
Participants are randomly assigned to Group A or Group B. Group A will receive corrective kinesiology tape applied to the heel (50–75% stretch) for about 4 weeks, about twice a week. Group B will do a home program of intrinsic foot strengthening and stretching exercises. All participants will be evaluated before and after about 4 weeks using a 0–10 pain scale, a short foot-function questionnaire, and ultrasound images of the plantar fascia. The study aims to see which approach better reduces pain, improves daily foot function, and whether the heel tissue looks different on ultrasound. The trial is currently enrolling by invitation and is expected to finish around late 2025.
