ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Stepped Care for Weight Loss Maintenance," is studying how to help adults with obesity maintain their weight loss after they have already lost a significant amount of weight (at least 5%). The study involves about 258 adults who will first participate in a 16-week program where they will receive weekly support to help them lose weight through lifestyle changes and a meal replacement diet. Those who successfully lose the required weight will then be placed into one of three groups for an additional year to see which method helps them keep the weight off best.
To be eligible for this trial, participants should be between 18 and 70 years old, have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, or 27 or higher with weight-related health issues. They also need to be able to engage in physical activity and own a smartphone with internet access. Once enrolled, participants can expect different types of support depending on their group: some will receive monthly educational materials, others will use smart devices and get daily text messages for guidance, and a third group will follow a step-by-step program that increases in intensity if they struggle to maintain their weight loss. This trial aims to find the best strategies for long-term weight management in people with obesity.
