ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of probiotics and zinc supplements on children with ventriculitis, which is an infection that affects the brain's ventricles. The goal is to see if these supplements can help improve recovery when used alongside traditional antibiotics. Researchers hope that by boosting the immune system with these non-antibiotic treatments, children may recover more quickly from this serious condition.
To participate in the study, children between the ages of 30 days and 4 years who are currently being treated for ventriculitis in the neurosurgery department can enroll. However, children with other health issues, allergies to zinc, or allergies to probiotics cannot participate. If eligible, participants will receive the supplements along with their usual antibiotic treatment and will be closely monitored for improvements in their health. This study is currently looking for new participants to help find better ways to treat ventriculitis in young patients.
