ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of krill oil supplements on the health of red blood cells in young athletes, specifically professional rowers aged 18 to 24. Researchers believe that krill oil could help protect red blood cells from damage during intense training by reducing harmful processes in the body. The study will involve about 30 rowers who will complete a rowing performance test at the beginning and end of a training camp to see if the krill oil makes a difference in their performance.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must have at least five years of rowing experience and train for a minimum of 240 minutes each week. They must also be members of the Polish Youth Rowing Team and should not have any health issues or be taking other supplements or antibiotics during the study. Participants can expect to receive krill oil supplements and will undergo performance tests to measure any changes in their red blood cell health and rowing ability. This study may help improve our understanding of how supplements can benefit athletes’ health and performance.
