ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two common medications, paracetamol and ibuprofen, to see which one is more effective and safer for treating a heart condition called patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in preterm infants. PDA is a condition where a blood vessel in the heart doesn’t close properly after birth, which can lead to health issues. The trial will include preterm infants who are less than 37 weeks old and have been diagnosed with a significant case of PDA using an ultrasound test.
If your infant meets the eligibility criteria, they may be invited to participate in this trial, which is not yet recruiting. However, infants with certain health problems, like serious heart defects or severe infections, will not be included. Participants will receive either paracetamol or ibuprofen to help close the PDA, and the doctors will closely monitor their health during the study. This trial aims to find out which medication works better for these tiny patients, providing important information that could improve treatment options in the future.
