ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new method for drawing blood from critically ill patients who might have a severe infection called sepsis. The researchers want to see if using ultrasound – a technology that allows doctors to see inside the body – can help make it easier and safer to take blood samples for testing. This is especially important because these patients often have veins that are hard to access, which can make getting blood samples difficult and may require multiple attempts.
To participate in this study, patients must be adults who are 18 years or older and are currently in an intensive care unit with suspected sepsis that needs to be tested through blood cultures. However, those who are pregnant, have certain types of infections that need isolation, or have significant skin issues will not be eligible. If you or a loved one qualify for this trial, you can expect the study to focus on the safety and effectiveness of using ultrasound for blood sampling, potentially improving care for patients with difficult access to veins.
