ClinConnect Summary
The "PULSE - School-based Intervention" trial is exploring ways to encourage teenagers to travel actively, like walking or biking to school, instead of being inactive. This study aims to help students understand the health benefits of being active and motivate them to choose active travel options. Over six weeks in the fall of 2023, students in the 9th grade at four participating schools will take part in sessions led by a science and education center and their teachers. The program will focus on health and sustainability, teaching students how their choices impact their well-being and the environment.
To be eligible for this trial, students must be in 9th grade at one of the four schools involved. Participants can expect to learn about the advantages of active travel and how to overcome common obstacles to being active. The main goal of the study is to find out if raising awareness about the benefits and challenges of active travel can lead to more physical activity among young people. This is an exciting opportunity for students to engage in a meaningful program that promotes healthier lifestyles!
