ClinConnect Summary
The SMART@Home Feasibility Trial is researching a new digital tool designed to help manage asthma, especially for children and teenagers aged 11 to 17. The goal of the study is to create a better way for patients to track their asthma symptoms and connect with their healthcare providers using an app that works with smart devices. This trial will first test the app with a small group of participants to make sure it effectively communicates important information about asthma symptoms. After that, about 40 adolescents with asthma will participate in a longer study to see how well the app helps them manage their condition compared to a control group that won’t use the app.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be between 11 and 17 years old, have a diagnosis of asthma, and be able to speak English. Researchers will look for participants who do not have certain serious mental health conditions or developmental disorders. Those who join the study can expect to use the SMART@Home app to track their asthma symptoms, receive personalized care plans, and help researchers understand how the app can improve asthma management for young patients.
