ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether a new surgical tool called EndoFLIP can help improve the quality of life for patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and hiatal hernias. These conditions often cause severe heartburn and discomfort, and when medications don’t work, surgery may be needed. The EndoFLIP allows surgeons to take important measurements during the surgery, which researchers will compare to patients' quality of life scores collected through a questionnaire.
To participate in this trial, you must be an adult who is being evaluated for GERD or a symptomatic hiatal hernia and is scheduled for a type of surgery called fundoplication. However, if you have had previous surgeries like hiatal hernia repair or cannot provide consent, you would not be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to undergo the surgery with the EndoFLIP tool, and the research team will follow up with you to see how your symptoms and overall well-being improve after the procedure. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and everyone is welcome, regardless of gender.
