ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of a synbiotic supplement, which is a combination of probiotics (good bacteria) and prebiotics (food for those bacteria), on the heart and bone health of patients who have received a kidney transplant. The goal is to see if this supplement can help reduce risks related to heart disease, improve bone metabolism, and possibly help with feelings of depression in these patients. The trial will involve 44 participants who will be divided into two groups: one group will receive the synbiotic supplement, while the other group will receive a placebo (a substance with no active effect) for about 10-12 weeks.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be between 18 and 75 years old, have had their kidney transplant at least one year ago, and have certain health measurements within a specific range. Patients will undergo some initial health checks, including blood tests and questionnaires about their mood. It’s important to note that those who are currently taking a synbiotic supplement will not be able to join the study. This research is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to help improve the health of kidney transplant patients in the future.
