ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking into the relationship between pressure inside the abdomen and signs of fluid build-up in the veins, using ultrasound scans. The study will take place in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and aims to see if higher abdominal pressure is linked to a score that indicates venous congestion, which means that blood is not flowing properly back to the heart.
To participate in this study, patients need to be adults aged 18 and older who are intubated and receiving controlled mechanical ventilation while sedated. They should also have a urinary catheter in place for monitoring. Participants will undergo an ultrasound and have their abdominal pressure measured within the first three days of their ICU stay. It's important to note that patients who are pregnant, have severe liver or kidney issues, or certain other medical conditions will not be eligible for this trial. This study is still in the planning stage and has not started recruiting participants yet.
