ClinConnect Summary
The "Screen Free Time With Friends" study is looking to help children aged 9 to 11 spend more time with their friends in person and less time using screens, like tablets and smartphones, especially after school and on weekends. Researchers want to see how this change affects the kids' social lives, physical activity, overall well-being, and even how much they sleep. They are also interested in how this impacts parents' screen use and potential smartphone addiction.
To participate in this study, children need to be part of a school that has an afterschool program or club nearby. The leaders and staff of these programs should be open to participating in training to help make the club more engaging. There are no specific exclusions, so most children from those schools can join. Participants can expect to be involved in activities that encourage face-to-face interactions with their peers while also learning about managing screen time in a fun way.
